Cattaneo (FI) slams Calenda: "He was the one who decided to close coal-fired power plants when he was minister."

The leader of Azione is once again the target of political criticism. "Carlo Calenda's statements are yet another example of verbal aggression that serves only to cover up the emptiness of his proposals," begins the statement in which Alessandro Cattaneo, Forza Italia MP and head of departments, criticized the Roman politician's latest statements.
Attacking President Occhiuto, who is tackling structural problems left unresolved for decades, is an act of political injustice and intellectual dishonesty. Those who come to Calabria just to insult would do well to first learn about what has been done in the healthcare and transportation sectors, even under extremely difficult conditions.
"Not content," Cattaneo added, "Calenda continues to repeatedly attack large Italian companies, distorting reality. It's paradoxical that today he's calling for an extension of coal-fired power plants, when as minister he himself established their closure by 2025, causing concrete damage to related industries and the local production system. And he did so without any European obligation. Today he can't rewrite history: businesses and local communities remember well who did what."
Calenda recently attended the inauguration of Azione's regional headquarters in Lamezia Terme and made headlines for his harsh, wide-ranging statements against Calabria's management, from healthcare to transportation. "It seems to me that the Region isn't moving forward on anything: healthcare is a critical issue and there's no progress, and nothing is happening on local public transportation."
